Originally named St-Lawrence Ceramics, Ceratec was formed in Québec in 1949, but took a three-year break from tile production starting in 1970 because of rising costs. In 1973, it re-opened as Ceratec, and has since expanded into many parts of Canada and the United States. Now, Ceratec is a major supplier of European-style porcelain and ceramic to the Canadian market.
