What will my floor renovation look like when it is finished?

What will my floor renovation look like when it is finished?”: A frequently asked question and Mannington has an answer. Over the years, both my customers and I have tried the Mannington Virtual Decorator and it works pretty well. My customers have found it a useful tool in helping them with their choices. Further, the virtual decorator has improved over the years.

Healthy Homes Renovation Tax Credit

You may recall one of the most successful home renovation programs the government offered a few years ago where you could get a tax credit for improvements to your home. It was offered for just one year and people took advantage of this scheme.

Well it is back, in a slightly different way.

If you are a senior (65 years or older by the end of the year) for which you are claiming the credit or are living with a family member who is a senior, then you may qualify. The Ontario government is encouraging changes to your home to make it safer, easier and more accessible for seniors.

Why carpet is still a good choice of floor covering

Over the last decade, there has been a trend towards hard surfaces such as hardwood and laminate for the living areas of homes (for example, the living room, dining room, family room and even bedrooms).

Both hardwood and laminate have a cleaner, almost sterile (and sometimes cold) look. Maintaining these types of floors is easy with the right cleaning products, but they can suffer and show more of the progressive wear-and-tear of a busy home: pets, accidental spills, and dropping heavy, hard objects can damage these floors.

Cleaning up after holiday festivities

Hi, this is Gihan from Allied Flooring. I have decided to start a blog. My goal is to provide useful tips and information about products and looking after your floors.

General

A good vacuum of all areas is a good idea before any specific recommended cleaning products are used.

Two custom-designed bathrooms with a shower

We installed tile in two bathrooms in this house. Both bathrooms used the same 12-inch–by–12-inch tile with irregular finished edges on the floors and walls.

The second-floor bathroom had a jacuzzi-style tub. The tile on the walls around it was topped with 6-inch tiles with the same colour and texture, rotated diagonally.

The second-floor bathroom also featured a custom-built walk-in shower with a bench. The floor in the bathroom was laid out in a mosaic, using trim cut from other tiles used during the installation.
