Tile

Tile

Tiles provide a hard, durable surface and allow you to create much more artistic designs than other flooring products. Tiles are generally impervious to water, and are easy to clean. Although tiles can be cold to the touch, under-tile heating systems are becoming more popular as they are becoming more affordable. For the best results, tiles should be professionally installed.

Cleaning up after holiday festivities

Hi, this is Gihan from Allied Flooring. I have decided to start a blog. My goal is to provide useful tips and information about products and looking after your floors.

General

A good vacuum of all areas is a good idea before any specific recommended cleaning products are used.

Schluter Systems - Innovative Installation Systems for Tile & Stone

It’s no secret that what cracks tile and grout lines is movement, however subtle.

Installing tile and stone correctly will ensure that you will not have cracked grout lines, cracked tile and other issues associated with movement and settlement of your home. Further, moisture-proof and vapour-proof installation, especially in wet areas of your home, will ensure that you will not have any issues with mold.

WEDI

WEDI is a world-renowned developer of building materials specifically designed for bathrooms and showers. Their building board is completely waterproof, so it won’t erode in moist environments like Green Drywall and DenisSheild. Their pre-sloped shower floors save installation time and money (as shower floors are traditionally poured and shaped manually).

Showers of the future are here today!

When vapour and moisture gets in behind tile, it progressively erodes the backing board. Mold and decay can destroy the structure of your walls, without any visible indication, until things have progressed beyond the point of no return!

The good news is that there’s a solution: it’s recommended by modern building codes, and Allied Flooring can install it today!

We are proud to announce that we have become certified installers of both Schluter systems and WEDI Shower Systems!

Natural stone in particular can have many variations in colour and appearance as the stone at one end of a quarry can be very different from the stone found at the other end! This is what makes it very unique and beautiful in its own way!
