Tumbled Marble Checkerboard Design

alternating black and white textured tiles on the floor of a small bathroom

This was an unusual challenge: to design and balance the room using a 4-inch x 4-inch tumbled marble checkerboard pattern.

This installation was done in a student rental unit. We laid a new subfloor, then tile in both the kitchen and in the main entrance.

Tiled hallway at side entrance

A side entrance and step with light porcelain tile. The main floor had hardwood installed; however a more–practical floor material was necessary to cope with the snow and water likely to come in from outside.

A complete staircase makeover. The spindles (holding up the handrail) were dismantling and taken off-site for painting. The stair base was sprayed on-site, and the wooden steps and handrail were stained. A wool carpet runner was installed for comfort. The whole staircase was custom-matched to the existing hard maple on the main floor.

When this consulting business moved into their new office, they discovered that the previous owners had damaged the carpet in the process of removing their cubicles. Additionally, the previous carpet had been worn smooth from office chair wheels, and faded due to the direct sunlight that came in along the one wall.

Floating Installation - LOC Hardwood in a condominium

Hard Maple Natural 3 1/4" LOC in apartment installation LOC hardwood in condo hallway leading to bedrooms LOC Hard Maple natural semi-gloss in condo hallway viewed from bedroom entrance close up detail of baseboard and hardwood installation in condo hallway

This was a challenging installation in a high rise condominium. The original hardwood had been installed over cork underlayment in a double glue down installation. There was some damage to the original hardwood. However the removal of the original hardwood was not an option. The new floor had to be installed over the existing glued hardwood floor. The floating interlocking hardwood was the best solution and our recommended option. The installation went extremely well and the result exceeded the customers expectations.
